Giulia Forsythe, Brock University, Canada

Giulia works as the Special Projects Facilitator for the Centre for Teaching, Learning & Educational Technologies at Brock University in St.Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

Giulia completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Integrated studies concurrently with a Bachelor of Education at Brock University in 2004. She is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. Giulia has taught all ages from preschool to senior citizen in both formal and non-formal learning settings. Preschool work included early intervention literacy program for children at risk. Her work with elementary aged children included integration of technology in the Ontario curriculum. Currently, Giulia facilitates adult learners, specifically faculty and teaching assistants in the areas of curriculum design, instructional skills workshops and teaching online.

Her work with online media integration and instructional design spans across the institution, specializing in programs in Adult Education, Community Outreach and Continuing Education for Teachers. Exciting new work in these areas focuses on the removal of barriers to continuing learning experiences for multi-generational and geographically disadvantaged learners.

Giulia is a trained facilitator for the Instructional Skills Workshop, which is a comprehensive three-tiered instructor development program that serves as the foundation for several professional development activities. She is also a member of the Society for Teaching, Learning in Higher Education, the Ontario University group of E-learning professionals and the Council of Ontario Educational Developers. Giulia is the Brock University representative on the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities province-wide initiative, elearnnetwork.ca steering committee. Giulia also chairs the Brock University Best Practices Advisory Committee and serves on the Educational Technology Advisory committee.

Giulia specializes in visual thinking, a form of external thought that allows you to visualize the connections you are making while thinking. In the conscious mind, doodling can assist concentration and focus but even in the unconscious mind, while doodling and day dreaming connections are made.
